<p>Young women need access to adult role models who are willing to share their career pathways and encourage the goals and dreams of youth. Since its inception in 2005, attendance at WACC has increased nearly 50% with over 580 female mentors and youth in attendance at the 2009 event. Join me, Cheryl Scoffield and <a href="http://store.haltoniec.com/civicrm/event/info?reset=1&amp;id=19" target="_blank"><strong>register for Women As Career Coaches 2011 as a Table Mentor</strong></a>, you just need to be yourself to qualify!</p>
<p>I attendedWomen As Career Coaches in 2009 &amp; 2010 and both times I found it extrememly inspiring. Not only is it great to speak with the young women at my table but the <a href="http://www.hiec.on.ca/events/wacc/wacc-2010.php" target="_blank"><strong>2010 keynote speaker</strong></a> Jeanne Beker, longtime host of FashionTelevision and one of the most iconic and influential women in the fashion industry was awesome.  Jeanne talked about being  &#8217;fearless&#8217;  and the message  &#8220;<em>you&#8217;ve got to dream, never give up and always believe&#8221;</em> really hit home<em>.</em></p>
<p>Pooja Handa, creator of the PH FACTOR (Pooja Handa FACTOR), a fun-filled segment on CP 24 which delivers all the Hollywood gossip and entertainment headlines along with her own commentary and side humour will again be the Hostess of the evening. Pooja brings style and grace to her role and her stories are an inspiration to everyone. </p>
<p>I was delighted to learn that Jeanne will again be the keynote in 2011 and I am sure she will be talking about the launch of her new clothing line! This event also features Spotlight Speakers, women of inspiration from the community and a question period after the keynote. Last year, during that question period, a young women at the mic blew me away with the committment she was putting in to attain the levels that Jeanne has fought so hard for. I think even Jeanne was impressed! You Go Mic Girl!  It was nothing short of inspirational!</p>
<p>Good News! Last year was the first year for  <a href="http://www.hiec.on.ca/events/macc.php" target="_blank"><strong>Men As Career Coaches</strong></a> because young men need access to adult role models too! This year&#8217;s event is February 24, 2011.</p>

<p>The purpose of this event, an initiative of BNI, is to raise the profile of networking in the wider community. The goal is to celebrate business networking&#8217;s essential and key role in business development and business success especially in today’s economic climate. BNI is focussed on small and medium sized business.</p>
<p>Business Networking is an important part of marketing, prospecting for new clients and developing sales for businesses of any size be they small or large business corporations. Over the past 12 years, I have attended many networking events around the Golden Horseshoe, west of Toronto, Ontario. One thing I have learned (it is absolutely essential to achieving sales growth, which is the goal of business networking), is to develop a plan BEFORE you attend.</p>
<p><strong>WHY?</strong> When you network, you meet a lot of people and collect many business cards. If the business cards just end up collected on your desk and you never connect with people after the event &#8211; what was the point of collecting? Did you know that 80% of sales are made on the 5th &#8211; 12th contact &#8211; yet 48% of people fail to follow up past that initial 1st contact? To maximize your investment of time, energy and resources and avoid falling into the 48%, you need to have a plan for how you intend to follow up people after the event, BEFORE you attend.</p>
<p><strong>Business Networking with specific intent -</strong> The concept of developing a Follow Up Plan <strong>BEFORE</strong> attending the networking event is what I have coined &#8220;networking with specific intent&#8217;. Having a plan is such a critical component of business networking  that I developed a series of Follow Up Training Seminars.  <a href="http://www.executivesalessupport.com/follow-up-services/entrepreneurs-training/" target="_blank"><strong>Set The Stage For Follow Up</strong></a>  is Step 1 - it gives you the basics and includes ways to enter a room and start talking to strangers. <a href="http://www.executivesalessupport.com/follow-up-services/entrepreneurs-training/" target="_self"><strong>Automate Your Follow Up Process</strong> </a>is Step 2 and introduces ACT a CRM (Customer Relationship Manager) which works with <a href="http://www.executivesalessupport.com/sales-support-resources/" target="_blank"><strong>Swiftpage</strong></a> for email delivery.</p>
<p>Attending networking events without the specific intent of following up after is, in my experience, simply a waste of time, energy and resources. You might have had a great social time, but you failed to maximize the business development potential of  the networking event. So what can you do to avoid the trap of just having a great social time at your next business networking event?</p>
<p><strong>3 Follow Up Tips to Help you Maximize Your Business Networking Efforts During International Networking Week</strong></p>
<ol>
<li>Develop a resource such as a Tip Sheet as your first Follow Up Step</li>
<li>Begin to use a CRM (Customer Relationship Manager) such as ACT and connect it to Swiftpage so you can begin to</li>
<li>Automate your follow up business processes. That way you will develop processes once, use it again and again and speed up your business. <p>I was lucky, I  had the pleasure to be included in the preparations for the opening of the flagship store. <p>Services will find us, everything we do and purchase is influenced by friends &#8211; Facebook is very popular with Canadians.<br />
15 Million users have an average of 190 friends each. Women + 50 years old are the fastest growing segment.</p>

<p>This week is Small Business Week and I have been travelling to several events carrying along my new iPhone. One of the reasons I really wanted to get a web enabled phone was so I could use Twitter while I am attending events. My Twitter account, ESalesSupport, is one of the new social media tools I am integrating into my community building efforts.</p>
<p>To help me use and organize Twitter, I downloaded the Hootesuite ap to my iPhone. As I started using Hootesuite I found their site FAQ a little difficult to navigate so I was glad to find this tutorial, <strong>The Basics of Using HootSuite</strong>, by Mel who blogs on the <a href="http://www.adventuroo.com/2010/10/the-basics-of-using-hootsuite/" target="_blank"><strong>Adventuroo website</strong> </a>and using the hashtag #momcomm. If you are looking for basic instructions on using Hootesuite, I hope  it helps you too.</p>
