Strike Sales Support Panic Off Your To Do
List
Do you remember when you could call in your
sales support, give her the basic outline for the customer project and
let her put it together
while you went on to the next project?
Seems like everyone I talk to
lately is trying everyday to get more done with less resources.
Departments which used to have 8 people now have 5. Problem is the
amount of work to do remained the same which leaves us trying to
cover more ground with less help.
Technology is a great thing and it does let you get more done, but the real
world limits still apply. There are still only 24 hrs in a day, you need
to see your family and get to the gym for your health.
Truth is, you can not cover
every base and keep every ball in the air, things are bound to fall
through the cracks. 90% of the managers I support, find it arduous
and frustrating to do tasks that are not within their area of
expertise. It is certainly not efficient. Your time is valuable and
there are tasks that you really should be delegating. Sure you can
keep going by
yourself, but think of how much more time it takes because you do
not practice this skill frequently enough to do it with ease. Imagine if you only played
golf once during the summer, how great would you be at tournament
time? Ask
yourself, do you really need to stumble through lower priority tasks when you could
be working on higher level tasks that move your business towards
your ultimate goals? Are these lower priority tasks really the best use of your
time? If the project takes longer than it should, you are not saving
money, it actually
costs you more. Sure the sales people can manage their own sales
funnel but shouldn't they be out talking to customers and
closing deals?
